Climb into the ice and slam the pick vigorously into the frozen water. Only a few inches into the ice are enough and this climbing tool carries your entire body weight. Strange but true! Using crampons and equipped with a helmet, you ascend the ice wall. Guided ice climbing tours are offered, for example, at the PES ice center in Mauthen.
