In particularly cold winters, Lake Pressegger completely freezes, revealing a true Eldorado for pleasure skaters. No less than 55 hectares of natural ice are available for you to glide, romp and race on. Skaters who like to make tracks have found their ice paradise at Lake Pressegger.
Ice skating on Weissensee: Around 25 November, the 6.5 square kilometre Weissensee lake in Carinthia freezes. Starting with the small western part, it is completely covered with ice up to 40 centimetres thick until mid-December. The ice athletes will not wait long. In addition, skaters and holiday guests can look forward to circular ice rinks of between four and 25 kilometres. This is where the annual alternative Elfstedentocht takes place.
